Early in the morning, you land at Hosea Kutako International Airport – welcome to Namibia! As you step out of the plane, you will feel the clear, dry African air and the warm light of the rising sun. The airport is small and manageable – perfect for starting your adventure calmly.

At the exit, the car rental company will be waiting to greet you warmly and show you your vehicle. For your journey, we have planned a Toyota Fortuner – a comfortable SUV, ideal for Namibia’s roads and long distances.

From here, it’s only about 25 kilometers to your first accommodation – a short drive to settle in and take in the new surroundings. If you still have energy, you can drive into Windhoek to pick up a few essentials or get your first impression of the capital.

Today, your route takes you about 327 km westward – from the Kalahari into the legendary Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world. Along the way, the landscape changes noticeably: the red dunes of the Kalahari give way to the golden expanses of the Namib, and the light begins to shine more intensely.

Your destination is a comfortable lodge right at the entrance to Namib-Naukluft National Park – perfectly located to explore one of Namibia’s greatest natural wonders: Sossusvlei.

The next morning, it’s time to rise early! When the sun rises over the dunes, the park gates open. In the clear, cool morning air, there is an almost magical silence as the first rays of sunlight turn the dunes into glowing red – an unforgettable moment. From here, it’s about 60 kilometers to the world-famous Sossusvlei dunes and the mystical Deadvlei, where centuries-old camelthorn trees look like sculptures from another world.
